Why should you even worry about turning your Instagram followers into email subscribers?

Isn't it enough to just focus on growing one audience on one platform?

The short answer?

No, it's not enough to just focus on Instagram. And here's why:

Reason #1: Your email list is the only thing you OWN.

Instagram could shut down tomorrow (remember Periscope? Or Vine? Or Google +?). Yep, that's exactly what happened with those platforms. And everyone LOST their followers. Overnight. Just like that.

And with their following, they lost their source of income. Because suddenly, they no longer had an audience to market and sell to.

Can you imagine what would happen if Instagram shutdown tomorrow? Would you still be in business?

Reason #2: By sending out emails, you're NOT subject to an algorithm. And most people check their inbox multiple times per day.

So unlike on Instagram, where your posts only get shown to about 20% of your followers, you can be sure that the emails you send out to your list, WILL get seen by your subscribers (and I'm going to teach you how to make sure they will OPEN them, too).

Giving someone your email address is a much stronger commitment than just hitting the "follow" button on Instagram.

Meaning, people who actively choose to opt in to your list, do so because they're truly interested in what you have to say, and what you have to offer.

People spend time on Instagram to connect, and to be social (after all, that's what social media is all about). So unless you're using paid advertising, it's going to be difficult to succeed with constant promotional posts. Your followers simply don't want to be bombarded with sales posts.

Not so with your email list. In fact, I use emails to convert over 70% of my sales!
